About Our Founder

Hi Friend!!!
I’m Lauren, founder of Diakonia & Co. I launched this business in April 2026 at 22 years old, driven by a passion for creating intentional, clean-burning products that are both beautiful and meaningful. My love for candles and fragrance goes far beyond the products themselves...I've spent the last four years immersed in the fragrance and candle industry, learning the artistry, craftsmanship, and science behind scent. What fascinates me most is the powerful connection between fragrance and memory. A single scent can instantly transport us to a cherished moment, a beloved person, or a season of life we never want to forget. There is something truly remarkable about the way God designed our senses to work together, and I love creating products that become part of those meaningful memories.
My passion for this work is deeply rooted in both my education and my calling. I graduated from Lipscomb University in 2025 with a degree in Business Leadership. During my senior year, I conducted extensive research on how soy wax candles contribute to agricultural growth and support the U.S. economy. It was a project I poured countless hours into, combining my love for business, sustainability, and the candle industry, and I was honored to receive a perfect score on the final research project. Interestingly, science and math were once my most challenging subjects growing up. Today, they play a significant role in what I do every day—from fragrance formulation and wax performance to product development and inventory management. It is a constant reminder that God can redeem and transform anything. What once felt like weaknesses have become areas of genuine passion and purpose in my life.
Beyond my love for fragrance, I have always been drawn to the rich symbolism of candles, light, and oil throughout Scripture. From the lamps burning in the Tabernacle to Jesus declaring Himself the Light of the World, light carries profound spiritual significance. One of my favorite parables is the Parable of the Ten Bridesmaids in Matthew 25. In this story, five bridesmaids were prepared with extra oil for their lamps, while five were not. The parable serves as a powerful reminder to remain faithful, watchful, and ready for the coming of Christ. The imagery of keeping our lamps filled with oil has deeply shaped my perspective on both faith and business. Every candle I create serves as a small reminder of the greater Light we are called to carry into the world. My prayer is that our products encourage moments of peace, reflection, and a deeper awareness of God's presence in everyday life.
This mission extends beyond candles through our 10:11 Initiative, inspired by John 10:11: "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." We are committed to serving our local community and communities around the world by gifting Bibles, because Scripture is the greatest gift we can offer as followers of Christ. A portion of every purchase goes directly toward placing God's Word into the hands of those who need it most. For me, this business has never been solely about creating beautiful products—it is about creating opportunities to share hope, truth, and the love of Jesus. Every candle, every fragrance, and every purchase becomes part of a greater mission to illuminate homes while helping spread the light of God's Word around the world.
Thank you for being here and for supporting this dream. It is an honor to create products for your home while partnering together to make an eternal impact.
